Latest Match Report v Droylsden Juniors, 0-3 Loss
Goalscorers:

The season continued with our first away game against a good Droylsden side with the result not fully reflecting the effort put in by the team. Unlike our opening game the team tried to play the ball through the middle and Christian was very busy with a lot of the play going through him with Charlie and Gabriel coming inside and looking to break forward. Harry and Archie in defence were both tackling hard and proving to be an effective unit. John upfront covered virtually every blade of grass looking for some space but was well marshalled by the Droylsden defence. It was midway through the first half that the deadlock was broken when a fierce shot from the edge of the area was well met by Ciaran but unfortunately the ball took a vicious spin and it was very very hard on the keeper when it ended up in the back of the net. Droylsden’s second was a good goal, which was worthy of winning the game itself. The team re-grouped for the second half and started to play the ball wide, which started to pay dividends as Didsbury looked to pressure the opposition. A good ball from Tom got to Jay who turned the defender but could only find the side netting. Lawrence was now in defence and kept a close eye on the Droylsden striker, making a couple of excellent interceptions and calmly played the ball forward as Didsbury looked to get on the score sheet. It was unlucky on the team when they were caught by a sucker punch goal late in the game but to their credit all kept to the task at hand and didn’t give up playing right to the final whistle. I must admit to being proud of all the players both with their effort and the fact that they didn’t give up at all.

Man of Match: Harry – Superb display of running and tackling earns Harry the award from the players this week.
