This squad had a really strong finish to the season last year, only missing out on promotion by a couple of points

They will be looking to build on that success this season, hopefully achieveing promotion into Division One

Probably the best pure footballing side at the Club, the players now have that steeling determination to make them winners

(Can somebody please tell Scott how & when to use a capital letter - the Scottish Education System has a lot to answer for!!!)

first game of the season and we had a couple missing and a late arrival due to a family pet. usual didsbury villa stuff. we had played glossop in the cup and beat them 3-1. we should have beaten them by more then even though they gave us a good game. history did repeat itself as again we outplayed them yet still they gave us a good game...........i know that doesn't add up but......... we should have beaten them by at least 4 goals especially with the chances we created. we played with 3 at the back and i felt liam, michael and alex s all had great games. this team is not used to playing 3 at the back but i felt all 3 coped really well. we packed the midfield and all contributed though i felt david excelled, showing bite in the tackle, composure and calmness on the ball and some great vision in his passing. playing as a support striker connor also shone with an excellent hat-trick in open play (some excellent shooting) and finishing with 4 after calmly slotting the penalty. we played some lovely football at times and some of the passing was back to the standard we expect from these boys. there was of course a hint of "1st game" syndrome as some boys were not to the standard we have come to expect from them but this will go after the hard work they will no doubt put in at training. the other sign of this was how we dropped a little in the second half, as the boys tired. we created loads of chances and defended well and passed the ball with confidence. we will only get better and better. a good start lads
